The first human being is ‘resuscitated’, cryogenized twenty-two years ago

The multinational company Cryohuman Genomics, with its headquarters in Cape Town, successfully achieved the reanimation process of the Dutch multi-millionaire Juliana de Oosterhout

Article: UCHRONIA: OSCAR WILDE AND THE 266 KELVIN

N7, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, APRIL 27TH, 2051

“Dazed, weak, though with her cerebral functions apparently intact and with an astonishing perceptiveness”, swears the first medical report by the cryogenists associated with the Afrikaans Rand University in Johannesburg. The prestigious southern University and the enormous Cape Town based company-the multinational Cryohuman Genomics- have been collaborating for decades to achieve, precisely, the spectacular result that was obtained this week. The aristocrat was settled in the port city of Rotterdam in her previous life, and suffered from an incurable genetic disease at the time of her ‘freezing’, concretely on the 24th of April in 2029, at 69 years of age. Today in day, nanotechnology combined with advanced genic therapies have transformed the forecast of this illness-unrevealed because it was expressly asked not to be revealed by the patient- from mortal to chronic. Soon, if everything develops with normality, Juliana de Oosterhout will be subjected to this kind of intervention.

“I’m coming back from that gaseous grave made of… sulfur you said?... to put up a fight, believe me…seven degrees below zero, for more than two decades refresh your ideas and rejuvenate your spirit…wake me up quickly, I’m dying to move my bones and chat someone up in a disco of the future…"

“I’m coming back from that gaseous grave made of… sulfur you said?... to put up a fight, believe me…seven degrees below zero, for more than two decades refresh your ideas and rejuvenate your spirit…wake me up quickly, I’m dying to move my bones and chat someone up in a disco of the future…By the way, you’ll have to tell me whether or not to confess turning 70 or 91 years old; I prefer the first one because I’m a little bit vain, you know…”-These were it seems, the first manifestations of the woman after placing herself, which provoked uproars within the medical team.

The successful reanimation was possible thanks to various factors that, in the first press conference, were unearthed by the microbiologist Vince Albertson, European sub director of Cryohuman Genomics, while also admitting prior and well-known failures:

“It’s still early to start shouting about it, but I think that the luck that we didn’t have with the previous patients did smile upon Juliana, and as a result, on us. Cryogenization, at the end of the twenties was developed in a correct way and that eased things for us in many ways. On one hand, only three and a half minutes passed from the outlined plan on her electrocardiogram, clinical death, until starting with the cryo-protocol, where the deterioration or loss of neurological functions was minimal or non-existent. I am inclined to the second one judging by the incisive long windedness of the patient. We will see the results of the cognitive and psicomotricity testsThe anti-coagulant- heparin mix and cryo-preservatives- glycerol, modified glucose and dimethyl sulfoxide (greatly diffused through the cellular membranes), among others-was perfect like the subsequent…

The scientific finding opens a plethora of unimaginable possibilities in the fight against still incurable illnesses, in the dynamic of transplants, in interstellar journeys (a cryogenized individual has minimal energy and oxygen consumption and doesn’t usually organize riots onboard space crafts), in the conservation of animal species in danger of extinction and including in the entertainment industry

…manual washing done by us with help from the RVT technicians. Thanks to the inverse cycle the cardiac valves gave way, and being toxic substances at room temperature, the above mentioned washing was done in a meticulous way and, we believe, optimal. With the injected dose of dobutamine, to avoid muscular atrophy, it seems that they were also right, although we will only be able to give more data with respect to this during the upcoming weeks, the patient shows a profile with moderate hypotonia in her upper limbs which is already being appropriately treated with medicines and electro-physiotherapy. The thermal gradient and above all the velocity in covering both processes- the cryptobiosis, and post reanimation- also makes us want to think it is suitable, maybe thanks to the correct usage, then experimental, of sulfuric…

...in a medium amount of time we can expect that healthy individuals, under the scrutinous, attentive eye of the International Bioethical Organization of the United Nations, are able to enter into a suspended state of activity, who simply want to “travel to the future” thanks to this process.

…acid (H2S) in a gaseous state like a thermo regulator as well as like opiate variants of encephaline. Two point four degrees centigrade per minute, in the first cryo-procedure, prevented the formation of crystals that could have destroyed the tissues, and in general harmed the cellular micro-architecture. The low but moderated temperature of 266 Kelvin of sulfur dioxide in a gaseous state that her body conserved was crucial to avoid the excess formation of ice. In the old days they preserved corpses in liquid nitrogen at 196º centigrade below zero, but such a low temperature was devastating to the vital organs of the whole organism, its macro-structure differed from the embrionary cells, frozen-unfrozen successfully by this method. The flip side of freezing at a “high temperature” is that the cells show certain ageing, although far from the twenty two years that they have been in the gas at 7º centigrade below zero. You must understand that I can’t supply exact data…Let’s just say that I am providing the cryo-procedure index and we are keeping the rest of the book with specific protocols to ourselves…for obvious reasons, we aren’t a non-profit although we generate a lot more happiness than many of them.  -Says Albertson smiling at all the present journalists, with an eloquent gesture towards his superior, sitting to his right. –“To conclude I will tell you something that you may have already suspected: Micro-robots and artificial enzymes already run through the patient’s organism repairing possible cellular damage and supplying us with incredibly valuable information that our quantum computers are already processing.”

For the time being this International Organization gave the go ahead to the project when it revealed itself as having clearly therapeutic aims.

The advances in molecular engineering on one hand and those produced in the quantum computer technology field on the other, have played a fundamental role in the whole process, judged by all of the technicians consulted. Cryohuman Genomics logically wants to keep the ace up their sleeves in what is considered necessary to keep operating exclusively in more than ten countries, in the cryo-conservation field. The company, with its headquarters in the South African city of Cape Town, has been investigating this bio-medical terrain for more than thirty years, meticulously scrutinizing the techniques of animals that allow such organisms to hibernate during the cold seasons. Almost a century ago, Robert Ettinger inaugurated the era of cryogenization with his investigations which are captured in breakthrough essays. He himself is currently found at this thin border between life and death, in a state of suspended activity. Could this scientist one day contemplate and with his very own eyes the final result of his investigations thanks to his ‘resuscitation’?
