Bionic Telekinesis or
Electrotelekinesis: A Daily Reality

Controlling objects or machines with our minds is starting
to become a habitual way of interacting with reality.

ARTICLE: BIONIC TELEKINESIS OR THE AGE OF SILENCE
READER ARTICLE : LAZINESS + TECHNOLOGY = SKY HIGH TRIGLYCERIDES.

  N5, VALLADOLID, SPAIN.  APRIL 12th, 2051

The operator controls, almost statically, comfortably seated in his watchtower, the beast that lifts up pallets and moves tons, ten at a time, like the mythic hero Magic Johnson moved a basketball, without any apparent effort. The blue coveralls, the gloves made of Kevlar banded to the waist and even the toothpick in his mouth make themselves anachronisms that move us. His helmet, externally, also emulates one made of PVC from 50 years ago but hides a technological titan inside its gut: The electrodes that cover its interior pick up, in real time, electrocorticographic activity from his brain, sending kinetic information to a quantum microprocessor in the hydraulic monstrosity. The equation is simple and challenges Newton’s physics, pulling a mocking face from the future:
Static + Technology = Kinetics.

They started with an individual, gifted with a helmet charged with electrodes, moving a cursor on screen with the mind. That turned into nothing more than an article on an odd page of a third class scientific magazine.

An incredibly young tetraplegic Norwegian woman, whose spinal cord was sectioned off at the neck in an accident, participates in the World Championships of rhythmic gymnastics celebrated in Toronto, Canada. Although she does it in the pertinent category, that’s for sure, it seems that the human brain still resists and overcomes the artificial processing speed by the skin of its teeth, heralded by Moore with his law of duplication every 18 months. The girls’ smile, almost incandescent, shines further out than the distance of the whole sports arena. We guess that impelled by comparing her memory of the three years that she remained almost mummified to the reality achieved, in part too, with her gargantuan effort. “I’m not an alien, but a fighter with blind faith in technology” – she declared. Her implants, just above the motor and sensory cortexes, are invisible; and the artificial hair is indistinguishable from perfect shampoo commercial hair. In nanoseconds nervous signals are generated to control the movement of: trunk, arms and hands, legs and feet, in a wide range of frequencies. Her data entrance/exit port is hidden behind a beautiful headband of white gold. The advancement has also transformed the lives of people with multifactor brain damage, like epilepsy sufferers, embolisms or Alzheimers. As well as others with motor difficulty illnesses like those who have amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The equation is simple and challenges the postulates of an army of refractory neurologists to the idea:
Perseverance + Technology = Miracle.

An army of physicians, neurologists and computer scientists have been trying to do it for more than half a century. But for the miracle to convert into such, there needed to be a regiment of “apostles” that worked hard, for decades, proclaiming their results from the roof tops. First with mathematical models stuck to antiquated blackboards or recreations of RVT, later with guinea pigs and monkeys and finally with ourselves. They started with an individual, gifted with a helmet charged with electrodes, moving a cursor on screen with the mind. That turned into nothing more than an article on an odd page of a third class scientific magazine. The hermitages, monasteries and cathedrals of these “apostles” of science were Brown University in Rhode Island, The School of Medicine in Pittsburg, the New England Sinai of Massachusetts,…

How would a human being from the beginning of the century feel upon contemplating any old day, any old city but in our times? It could have been the English writer Arthur C. Clarke who said something like advanced technology to a primitive village is indistinguishable from magic.

…The University of Washington in Saint Louis, The London College, The Biomedical and Technological Institute of Madrid, The Santiago Ramón y Cajal Foundation of Zaragoza, The Center for Neurobiological Studies of Nagoya, The Bionics Department of the University of Paris, The Swiss Dalle Molle of Perceptual Artificial Intelligence among many others. They sculpted the new reality that we flourish in. Thanks to all who contributed in this direction. It’s the least we can do. Precisely the last one, the Dalle Molle of Perceptual Intelligence, whose headquarters are in Zurich, the prestigious neuro-physicist Bernard Hardcoom, gives us a few historical details relative to telekinesis and some details about the new system:

“It has been known for a long time that our brain bases itself on an electro-chemical operation. The micro-electric currents that are produced when we think can be amplified through human technology. In other words, by incrementing the denominated biotical energy or bio-energy. Now, no one should think that our studies brush upon para-science or pseudo-science: Today in day, still, no one has been able to demonstrate in a laboratory, under rigorous scientific method, that telekinesis is possible without the help of technology. WJ Crawford, Physics professor at the Technical Institute of Belfast, achieved very relevant advances in this field but was never able to carry out any truthful experiment and spread the word publicly. This does not mean that telekinesis can be demonstrated, quantified, parametered and labeled in the future, when we have more precise instruments available to measure electromagnetic waves. Some of the neo-materials developed to take the first man to Mars are going to help us a great deal, without a doubt. In the second half of the twentieth century a Russian woman, Nina Kulagina (Нине́ль Серге́евна Кула́гина), was able to displace with her mind, not only the needle of a compass, but the whole compass, a few centimeters, with her being tied up and the object inside a crystal urn. Unfortunately there weren’t the minimum conditions to corroborate the scientific experiment. Therefore, for the scientific community, it’s as if it never happened. The truth is, in the case that it was true, it would only prove that a determined individual, under very concrete conditions, can make use of that extraordinary ability, one which the rest of the population probably doesn’t have developed. The new Electromagnetic Brain Wave Amplifiers, EBWA, with the right training, can be used by anybody that doesn’t have neuronal disorders. As the technical obstacle is saved, now we should save the psychological one with this training. How many times do we hesitate with choices, the blue shirt or the beige one? If we don’t want to confuse the system, the orders have to be precise, concrete. The abstract (a pretty shirt) won’t work. Insecurities and hesitations are prohibited. It’s about trying to learn to think in a new way, brief, direct, if we want our robot to bring us the article of clothing that we want. For this, diverse techniques have been used in the trainings, like neurolinguistic programming. This, as we call it, mental discipline will be also used to codify our mental information, channeling it toward an external support.”

The truth is that the new reality is stubbornly and obstinately drawn before our eyes. They say that the human being enjoys such versatility that it gets used to everything without blinking an eye. By using only the perspective from various decades ago we can assimilate the significance of the phenomenon. How would a human being from the beginning of the century feel upon contemplating any old day, any old city but in our times? It could have been the English writer Arthur C. Clarke who said something like advanced technology to a primitive village is indistinguishable from magic. Well then, the miracle working of a homo sapiens that looks at our reality with a prism from the end of the twentieth century is officially served.
