Finally, Total Virtual Reality
unified, a new reality.

The Head of the Department of TVR at the University of Hamburg was successful: His quantum central servers now form the universal nucleus, after the fusion of the 6 great companies that fragmentarily supplied the service.

A young Edgar Allen Poe met us affably at his house in Baltimore, in the spring of 1832. There, he turned himself over to the logomachy and the mauve light of the afternoons in front of the port, under the metallic echoes of the first railway inaugurated in the United States, fabricating what would be his infraworld, secretly in love with his almost embrionary niece, Virginia Clemm.” This fragment does not belong to an experience that occurred more than two centuries ago but to one “lived out” last week by the chronicler that writes to you now. The same one that two months ago fought against blood and fire, side by side with Hannibal and his brother Asdrubal, in the second Punic War. There was a difference: we won the “Carthaginians” from General Scipio the African in the famous Battle of Zama in 202 before Christ. The part about fighting with fire wasn’t a metaphor; our attacking rifles were determiners, of course.   

The legislation that governs the new universal TVR is based on 309 articles whose development has been a delicate job of gold spinning by lawyers, technicians, and politicians. The key to this Virtual Constitution is its’ completeness, that it deals with a perfect clockwork mechanism, unprotected

How is it possible that a humble editor of a magazine, born in the twenty-first century can not only be a witness, but a protagonist, of such cybernetic prodigies? The thaumaturgy or the dreamlike universes had little to do with the miracle. The answer is the result of the effort, result of human technological evolution, and you will find this in the following paragraph


  The University of Hamburg (Germany, EU), associated from decades ago with the New Matter Laboratories, and specifically its Head of Department of the Total Virtual Reality (TVR) has done it: The unification is now a fact. Their central quantum servers now form the universal nucleus of the TVR, after the fusion of the 6 great companies that fragmentally supply the service. The unification of the TVR has been a very complex job on all levels: technical (different protocols and incompatible software patents), legislative (the unification of norms that implicated hundreds of countries from all five continents), and political (some regimens resisted the existence of a global environment of total freedom). Fifty independent servers decided not to sign the Hamburg Armistice, although they didn’t represent more than 3.76% of the total virtual space and it is believed that they will finish absorbed up by the recently created giant,or will be diluted before the two year...

Obviously, the specific weight of the three great world sociopolitical blocks has simplified things a lot. One of the key clauses of the preamble speaks of the absolute priority that the implantation of the TVR has to arrive to all countries, and that it should be at the economic advantage of the less developed ones.  
 The TVR has already become, by its’ own right, a new alternative reality, parallel and sometimes even more understandable, plausible and credible to ours, the regular one. We are talking about a circumscribed metareality (or inscribed?) that we know and can call “traditional”, that wouldn’t be more than another subset of infinite possibilities. We will leave the philosophical argument that reality is subordinate, to our columnists, because the purpose of these lines is to inform one about the new advances and not dump our opinion onto the topic.
  
A few decades ago, VR, (not Total) could be defined as a computer technology interfaz that generated synthetic environments in real time, simulating an alternative pseudo-reality, differentiating between immersive modalities (“total’, with a stereoscopic vision and propioceptive sensations) and non-immersive (reflected on an old computer screen). This definition has become completely obsolete, smashed by new concepts that are derived from new neuronal techniques and that convert the TVR in something totally indistinguishable from Real Reality (RR). The key, essentially, resides in that the “inputs”, or the entering of information that the user receives, who wants to be submerged in a virtual universe, doesn’t reach us, like in the past, through our senses, but penetrates us directly through our brain. But the differences don’t stop there. The potential of the new quantum computers allows the exact recreation of the physical environment, virtual autonomous characters gifted with creative intelligence (knowbots), interaction of the “cyber-navigator” with the real world thanks to electrokinesis or bionic telekinesis, among other things. Some of the consequences of the Hamburg Armistice will be that there will be more quantum potential and therefore more realism, speed, coherence and universalism. With respect to this last part, an example: A person, after the accord signed in Germany could lie in a hotel bed in Damascus, (Syria), connected to a TVR system, controlling from the inside, a physical recollective robot, that happens to be on the other side of the world, on the island of Oahu (Hawaii), piling up some sugar cane. This, of course, would be applicable as well to our exterior moon colonies or the ones on Jupiter, Saturn or Mars. Evidently the communication channels would be bi-directional so that the above mentioned user could receive information from “the exterior” coming from any point of the orb, this being understood not as the traditional spherical concept, but as the last corner of the Solar System that the human civilization reached. Another example: This article is being written from “the other side”. 

Possibilities: almost limitless. We just uncovered a few examples that are just the tip of the iceberg, an iceberg of infinite dimensions. The new concept of reality takes on all fields and human facets. In history class, to give an example, the very own rear-admiral Horatio Nelson is the one who personally explains to the infantrymen his victory against Napoleon at the Battle of the Nile, using as a backdrop that same bay of Abukir (near Alexandria). Our ancestors never would have thought there would such a literal application of the Spanish proverb: “La letra con sangre entra”, meaning that if children don’t master their studies, a good smack always helps to wake them up.

The tele-presence has already saved, just in Europe, one hundred thousand million euros in the last lustrum. Now, and just like we commented at the beginning of this article, companies will have to send, by law, some of the saved capital in order to re-balance the commercial scale with the third world. This doesn’t necessarily have to be something negative for them, but on a strictly commercial level (not humanitarian), it will serve as a contribution to the creation or extension of new markets for their products.

 In medicine, the applications of the TVR are even more astounding, Forty five years ago the rudimentary VR was already being used to capture attention deficit in children. With all due respect to those pioneers, that is a child’s game: A month ago, King Abdullah III’s mitral valve decided to abruptly close his left ventricle and atrium. The monarch was operated on simultaneously and successfully by four of the best specialists in the world, even though these cardiologists were at the farthest ends of the four cardinal points. If someone didn’t have the luck/misfortune to be born with enough lineage they could also benefit from the fusion between traditional medicine and TVR; the diagnostics are much more exact since the radiologists virtually submerge themselves into the body of the patients, investigating “in situ” with magnetic resonance and tetra-dimensional CAT scan techniques whose results, in turn, are dropped, properly processed, directly onto the net. Neurologists surf unknown regions, up until now, of our brains (even more precisely than in lucid dreams) checking that specific areas are electrochemically activated before certain stimuli, and interact directly with sick or damaged neurons, or ones that don’t do their jobs right. Simulations of elastic deformations of soft tissue that are high risk patients are being advised to be operated on or not, or exact recreations of trajectories of dental pieces that are widely used by orthodontists are some of the other major applications of TVR to medical science.   


In industry in general and in aeronautics in particular TVR will suppose an unprecedented advance. In 1980 the company StereoGraphics made the first virtual stereoscopic eyeglasses. In 1982 T. Zimmerman patented a glove full of electrodes that controlled a virtual musical instrument. They say that, from then on, everything started to “get interesting” with pro-simulators for virtual (military) flights and industrial robots controlled by tele-operators. Those first prototypes are the equivalent of Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches or the Wright Brothers’ first airplanes, if we compare them to the modern quantum space crafts, or the possibilities that the industry offers nowadays thanks to TVR. One piece of information: the industrial production in the airmobile sector registered a net profit of 35% in the first trimester of the year with respect to the same period last year thanks to new design techniques, prototype tests, and optimization of materials and work hours… all virtual of course! If a worker can carry out his mission from an idyllic location in the Fiji Islands, everything will be much easier and one will be able to see that clearly by production levels. These are mere anecdotes if we compare them to architectonic design progress, in agriculture (hyper-real simulations of transgenic cultivation behavior, for example) or in the service sector that should integrate them into TVR. To conclude this epigraph, another piece of information: TVR has changed into the first industry on a universal level. The creation of virtual environments (tri-dimensional geometric shaping and associated behavior) and the complex managing of them segmented in twelve levels, like the manufacturing of necessary hardware, has generated millions of new jobs, more money gets moved around than in any other sector, including the energy sector. The key lies in the demand: Everyone in the world wants to submerge themselves in virtual universes. (Was our world that ugly and have we just realized it now?) The whole world, businesses and private companies, everyone wants to have the equivalent of the beginnings of the century as their homepage, or welcoming space.

On a social level, the arrival of TVR into our lives will be very noticeable. The restriction to TVR access has become a punitive figure in International Law. A delinquent can’t access virtual worlds unless they are controlled, put into reinsertion and regulated re-education programs. The same as when, at the end of the last century and the beginning of this one, those who didn’t have a connection to the Paleolithic internet web had very limited possibilities in those days, and the same thing will happen with TVR. Our genetic card that identifies us will be a filter, although… “Law made, law broken”, robbed illegal genetic code trafficking has already been detected, which is then sold to the highest bidder. The international “capos” don’t want to be out and therefore push delete on their criminal past. In real reality, it’s very cold (or too hot because of climate change). New ways of committing offenses, new figures to counteract them: The appearance of the first cyber-police is being talked about, who work from the inside. Knowbots or humans, we don’t know. On the other hand, the first humans to land on Mars didn’t make a hyper-real documentary with their vicissitudes on the Red Planet (like they did in the old days), but with their tri-dimensional films, they widen our TVR limits. This forms a live tissue, that grows more every day. The video game won’t take long to come out, don’t doubt it. In a few months anyone will be able to live in the Martian region of Tharsis. We can only sympathetically laugh at the antediluvian virtual communities from the beginning of the century that, without a doubt and in honor of the truth, contributed to us arriving to where we are today. The vacation that the writer Philip K. Dick foretold in Total Recall is now a fact; millions of people now live inside, being someone who they aren’t (?)

In this section we cannot obviate the concept of tourism, which has been totally redefined by TVR. We will travel and keep traveling in a physical form, but the estimations of the independent consulting firm Brickman & Associates suggest that the “old way” of seeing the world will be decimated (on the level of the number of travelers per year and therefore in millions of Eurodollars per year) in less than thirty six months. Why suffer from an 18 hour flight, high costs and unnecessary risks like unpredictable climate, possible infectious diseases, terrorist attacks, etc, if everything can be produced in our minds in a much faster, cheaper, safer and more amazing way? The feeling and subsequent memories will be indistinguishable from those that we would have if we had “really” lived it out. We suppose that this real revolution in the world of leisure will be the one that the population of the first world resists. What is indefectible though, always according to Brickman & Associates, is that what is physical will be more and more expensive because of the decrease of the demand curve.

TVR will have an effect, without a doubt in the world of sport. We already have athletes that train from “the other side”, accelerating their reflexes with certain stimuli (creating neuronal bridges, recording guidelines in their brains), later confronting reality with the lesson well learned. Virtual sports, differentiating classics…

The physical production with real actors has fallen 87% in the last five years.

(the same ones and in the same conditions that can be practiced in the RR) and the extremes, already create more spectators (from the inside and the outside) than the usual physical ones. When the year arrives that an Ancient Greece comes, virtual and radiant, it will host the first Virtual Olympic Games in History. 


If we talk about consequences, we can’t only cite positive ones. We have already quickly commented some of the new crimes that come from TVR. The psychologists consulted say that the fusion of TVR with bionic telekinesis or electrokinesis is an explosive combination of unpredictable consequences. If people are happier inside and control reality with their minds from outside, they run the risk of not “needing” to leave. There are many cases of starvation, thrombosis, ischemia in general, embolisms, myocardium strokes, cerebral strokes and other lethal pathologies that have come about because of this. Competent authorities have reacted relatively quickly and in the Sixth Disposition of the Virtual Constitutional Text, which legislates the connection devices for TVR, has broadened, obligating supplier companies to implement hard-soft devices that control the vital constants of those connected. The measure has been well received by the Cybernaut associations although it has also been criticized by syndicates of the sector for producing 139,114 registered deaths because of the above mentioned reasons. Psychological addiction to TVR is a new phenomenon that specialists are confronting and, in honor of the truth, have unpredictable consequences. Who wants to stay in a universe where they are not happy, having a polyvalent one so close, unlimited and made to order? Here we can cite the fall into sin of traditional cinematography: The physical production with real actors has fallen 87% in the last five years. Synthetic actors and virtual stages have gradually substituted what can be considered classic cinema.

Only with time will we be able to evaluate the repercussions of this new technology in the human being. Until now we can affirm that, without a doubt, its’ impact will be decisive in the world economy, it will transform society from top to bottom and clearly our way of interacting with the universe.
